Match with Standard Chartered Bank

A week ago, I got a call from Jon saying that our team is to play with Standard Chartered Bank in a friendly match. I was uber excited, so was everyone in the team. Simply because it's the first time we actually played in a match with referees and lines man. A sense of proud mixed nervous was all over us.

Om the camwhore monkey (that's me behind. shocked.)

15 of us took lrt, then monorail to reach Chow Kit and waited for transport to send us all to a recreational club. Immediately we notice the big field when we enter the club. The rain on that night before made the pitch look terrible. It was muddy and there's water everywhere.

The sun was shining brightly, it was so hot, our skin burns and somehow frustration boils hence, the yelling and cursing. The first half ended with both side nil with goals. Om got yellow carded for entering the game without telling the referee. Haha.. stupid fella. Told you it's our first time playing with a proper ref.

check out Darvin.. "look, no hands!"

"aight, everyone lean forward!"

Second half started and it was all quiet until we make our 1st mistake of the game. Cedric the keeper, missed the save from the near post and the ball was eventually handled by Darvin. The ball entered and despite the claims for a penalty, the goal was considered. The second goal came after 10mins from the first and it was just enough to demoralized our team. Hope came towards the last few minutes, a cross by Sheldon which seem to be harmless converted into the back of the top corner net by Om. His touch was enough to beat the keeper and give us faith that we can at least, for pride's sake, savour an equaliser. But all hope was lost when Ced underestimate a shot from the opposition which deflected off Ced's fingers, onto the post and entered.

can you spot Jon?

"make way! Big Momma's coming!!"

Final whistle was blown and it was all over. 3-1 the final score. Unsatisfied, we vowed to have a rematch soon but not so soon (exams are closing in).

Cheng Beng @ Ipoh

Hey guys! I'm back with a spare monitor. Guess LCD monitor will have to wait longer. I just realize I didn't blog much about the Ipoh visit for Cheng Beng celebration. So I'm here now to tell you all about the great place where White Coffee addicts were brought up.

On the first day, everyone woke up early and get all ready to head over to the memorial park. We had a quick breakfast with Curry Wan Tan Mee which is situated opposite of Methodist Girl School. It's the best place in Ipoh to taste Wan Tan Mee with curry sauce. Work starts as soon as we got there. There was so much to do, there were piles of dried leaf everywhere, dirt clogging up the drain and the grave had a huge crack which needed a patch up (there's something to do with bad feng shui if not fixed).

After done cleaning up and making offerings at our ancestors grave, things were far from over. We need to head over to the Sam Poh cave known as Sam Poh Tong among locals the place to place ashes of the dead. This time, to make offering to my grandfather. Some of you might wonder why my ancestors were buried while my grandfather was cremated. Actually we were given a choice, my dad had discussion with uncle and decided it's best to cremate since we're unable to return for Cheng Beng every single year.

This Ipoh trip isn't exactly all smiles, there was a freak accident involving my mom's car which was driven by dad. There was an Audi following too close to my dad and when my dad saw the red light, he hit the brakes and kaboom! Kissed the back! Bumper almost dropped out but it's not that bad. Fortunately the guy was also from KL and they both decided to settle it once back KL.

Two things you CANNOT miss when you're at Ipoh:

THE FOOD

AND THE SCENERY

That's all for now, till the next time!
